In-folio. 330x225 mm. Legatura del XVII secolo in vitello screziato, titolo in oro su tassello rosso e fregi in oro sul dorso a 6 nervi. Tagli marmorizzati. Carte 6 non numerate, 253, 1 bianca. Segnatura: †6 a6 b-z8 &8 [con]8 [rum]8 A-F8 (F8 bianca). Colophon a c. 253v “In florentissima Venetiarum vrbe per spectabilem virum dominum Lucamantonium de giunta florentinum Anno domini M.D.xx Die. xv. Septembris …” Opera interamente stampata in rosso e nero, testo su 2 colonne, carattere gotico e greco, note musicali quadrate in rosso su tetragramma nero. 
Frontespizio con titolo in rosso entro cornice grande cornice allegorica figurata e istoriata, ripetuta alle carte a1r, o2r e y8r, 167. Annotazione manoscritta al frontespizio. Imponente illustrazione a piena pagina a carta †6 verso con l’ultima cena, la crocifissione e diversi episodi della vita di Cristo, 162 piccole figure incise in legno nel testo che si trovano quasi su ogni foglio. Piccoli forellini di tarlo, per il resto buon esemplare.

Elegante e rara edizione stampata in rosso e nero splendidamente figurata. Le illustrazioni in xilografia sono alla maniera di Zoan Andrea. Alès: “Dans ce pontifical, chaque cérémonie est précédée d' une figure ad hoc; ces figures ne sont point reproduites dans le pontifical de 1572...” L'opera contiene l'ordine del servizio, con musica, per quei sacramenti amministrati esclusivamente da papi o vescovi, ed è interamente illustrata. La prima sezione riguarda l'ordinazione, la consacrazione e la benedizione di persone come clero, diaconi, abati e badesse. La seconda sezione tratta della consacrazione e benedizione dei beni, compresi gli edifici ecclesiastici, gli altari, gli oggetti liturgici, come campane, calici e croci, e la benedizione dell'olio santo. La sezione finale contiene le regole che disciplinano le cerimonie dei sinodi e altri eventi pontifici durante l'anno liturgico. Il nome del curatore, Alberto di Castello, appare nel colophon a carta F7v.

Colophon on c. 253v "In florentissima Venetiarum vrbe per spectabilem virum dominum Lucamantonium de giunta florentinum Anno domini M.D.xx Die. xv. Septembris ..." Entire work printed in red and black, text in 2 columns, Gothic and Greek type, square musical notes in red on black tetragrammaton. 
Titlepage with title in red within large figured allegorical and historiated frame, repeated on leaf a1r, o2r and y8r, 167. Handwritten annotation on title page. Impressive full-page illustration on †6 verso leaf with the Last Supper, the crucifixion and various episodes from the life of Christ, 162 small woodcut illustrations in the text on almost every leaf. Small wormholes, otherwise good specimen.

Elegant and rare edition printed in beautifully illustrated red and black. The woodcut illustrations are in the manner of Zoan Andrea. Alès: ‘Dans ce pontifical, chaque cérémonie est précédée d' une figure ad hoc; ces figures ne sont point reproduites dans le pontifical de 1572...’ The work contains the order of service, with music, for those sacraments administered exclusively by popes or bishops, and is fully illustrated. The first section deals with the ordination, consecration and blessing of persons such as clergy, deacons, abbots and abbesses. The second section deals with the consecration and blessing of goods, including church buildings, altars, liturgical objects such as bells, chalices and crosses, and the blessing of holy oil. The final section contains the rules governing the ceremonies of synods and other papal events during the liturgical year. The name of the editor, Albert of Castello, appears in the colophon on leaf F7v.
